Westward Once Again.

As many of you know, the winter has been unbearable here in the Midwest this year. No, seriously. It has been the worst. If you heard the terms Arctic Blast or Polar Vortex at any point this year, it was referring to our geographic region. Yuck. Mother Nature will give us a 40 degree (or almost 60 degrees like yesterday!) day and give us hope that we will soon thaw, only to crush our dreams and desires to breathe fresh air with snow, rain, or just plain freezing weather for several days to follow. Can we have a moment of silence for this awful period of time in remembrance of the sunnier, happier days?

Fortunately for me, I had the chance to escape Wisconsin for much of March. Though March wasn't the worst month weather-wise, it was nice to visit sunny California in the beginning! The children and I ditched Carl once again for a week :( and visited friends and family. Sleep was awful for the three of us, but at least we spent the days having fun! We went to the park, SF Zoo, Golden Gate Park, and of course spent quality time with the Lockwood family!

Warning: picture overload!

looking at the zebras when we noticed this giant stork nesting. It was at least the size of a golden retriever.

cool moves!

why are the males so gorgeous?!
this is how vivienne felt about the strange bird.

note the missing patches of hair. prairie dogs are particularly violent to each other as I witnessed!!
this trio of meerkats cracked me up!
i grew up!
his expression is so hilarious! he was suspicious of the goats the entire time. I don't blame ya, dude.
 yee-haw!

no idea where his horn went!
Ezra's favorite animal of the day: the very active hippo

pondering on the penguins

phil & ted double strollers are the best!
i was impressed with Ezra's robot tower
 silly faces!

my sister and brother-in-law visited after work almost every day we were there! So nice :)

see, I was there too.

such a model

someone taught this boy the proper way to spread flowers.

the kiddos were buried under this blanket pillow pile Carol created!
kitty bum! love her little face between her legs
and the screen makes its debut again for added entertainment
my mother is so beautiful! Doesn't she look so young! I'm not allowed to disclose her age (EVER), but though she looks like she's in her 40's, she's not!
these roller-bladers at Golden Gate Park were dancing and showing off their sweet moves to some funky tunes.
so sweet!
oakland, the bay, and sf from the view at the Oakland LDS Temple
so adorable that Ezra was pretending to sleep!

viv's was obsessed with the Savior's toe.

what's a visit to the Oakland Temple without a visit to Fenton's Creamery?!

we visited with Grandpa Sunny several times. So good to see him!
My Aunt Carol came out for the last part of the week and flew home with me. Thank goodness, because Vivi slept on the wrong side of the bed (literally- she slept at the foot of Ezra's bed!) and screamed bloody murder for 15-20 minutes while passengers were boarding. It was so bad that people changed seats, flight attendants took turns asking if there was anything they could do, people had the nerve to just stare, and there were even "whisperings" of me being too young for children that age. Wow. I have a new motto of saying "thanks" when people think I'm a teen mom. Vivienne took a nap shortly after takeoff and all was well for the remainder of the flight :)

xoxo

PS- I'll be blogging about our Florida/Disney adventure soon!
